Assistive Listening Devices

An assisted listening device (ALD) is any type of device that can help you hear better in your day to day communication.  An ALD can be used with or without hearing aids.  ALDs are designed to help you hear better in many of the situations that are more difficult to hear in due to excessive background noise, arenas where there is a large distance between the speaker and the listener, and rooms that have poor acoustics.   If you are a hearing aid wearer, ALDs may offer greater ease in hearing which in turn can reduce stress and fatigue.

ALDs in the form of wireless connectivity are now available for most hearing aids.  These devices take the sounds from your television, telephone, computer, cell phone and many other electronic devices and put that sound directly into your ears through the hearing aids making it much easier to hear.
